Meredith Chavez

Meredith enriches the KW team with her distinctive design approach and rigor. She earned a Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of Architecture in Urban Design from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Houston. As a Design Executive, Meredith leads and executes project design across a variety of scales to connect people with nature. Her design-first philosophy integrates site context with mixed media representation and are her key strengths for envisioning beautiful landscapes. Meredith’s professional background encompasses mixed-use developments, waterfront development, roof gardens, public parks, and collegiate campuses.

A native Houstonian, she is inspired by outdoor spaces that mitigate flooding and enhance city infrastructure. This interest stems from her undergraduate thesis, Phnom Penh: Manufacturing a Flexible Landscape, which won a Design Award and the Outstanding Senior Honors Thesis Award at the University of Houston. Meredith credits the thesis and all her travels across Southeast Asia for inspiring her to become a landscape architect. Outside of work she enjoys running Memorial Park, biking Buffalo Bayou, and traveling the world with family and friends!

I enjoy seeing how people use landscape spaces after they are designed. The sense of discovery is interesting to see in ways that were not necessarily planned.”
