Public Work Leon Valley Municipal Facility

Project Description

Cohesive Landscape Design for Municipal Facilities

The City of Leon Valley Municipal Facility project in San Antonio, TX, integrates essential municipal services, comprising city hall, a police station, fire department, courtroom, and library, within an architecturally cohesive complex. Our landscape architecture efforts were pivotal in realizing a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment.

The first phase, focusing on the construction of a new 16,901-square-foot fire station, addresses critical space needs, doubling the capacity of the existing station. Situated on a two-acre tract at El Verde and Jeff Loop roads, this state-of-the-art facility features five apparatus bays, upgraded living quarters for firefighters and EMTs, as well as various amenities including a kitchen, workshop, dining room, outdoor cooking area, and training room. The subsequent phases entail renovations to the City Hall offices, culminating in a modernized space that reflects the city’s progressive vision. Renovations include a new front entrance and lobby, conference rooms, enhancements to municipal court clerk and administrative offices, and upgraded restrooms. A focal point of the renovated City Hall will be a trellis-covered walkway area adorned with trees, leading to a plaza and inviting entrance.

Through meticulous planning and execution, the City of Leon Valley Municipal Facility project embodies a harmonious blend of functionality, sustainability, and civic pride, poised to serve the community’s needs for generations to come. Our landscape scope encompassed entry signage, pedestrian pavers, stairs, and walkways, strategically positioned to guide visitors and promote accessibility throughout the property. Shade structures provided relief from the Texas sun, while our irrigation design ensured water efficiency and plant health, contributing to the sustainability of the landscape. A carefully curated lighting design scheme illuminated the surroundings, enhancing safety and accentuating architectural features during evening hours. Softscape elements were meticulously planned and implemented, adding greenery and natural beauty, creating inviting spaces for relaxation and community engagement. Through our comprehensive landscape approach, we aimed to enrich the civic experience, fostering a sense of pride and connectivity within the Leon Valley community.
